New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Shahnawaz Hussain on January 11 said the Ayodhya issue could be resolved only through discussion between elected leaders of the two communities.

"The Ayodhya issue can be resolved amicably only when elected leaders from both communities sit together and discuss it, as it could become a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity," he said in an informal chat with reporters.

In a strong defence of 'hindutva', Hussain said, "'Hindutva' is thousands of years old, which no Muslim need fear. It is the only guarantee for their safety."
