Lucknow: Cold wave conditions worsened in Uttar Pradesh with Kanpur recording zero
degree Celsius, the lowest in last 44 years, as 28 more died in the state, taking
the toll to 180.
While Kanpur shivered at zero degree Celsius, mercury dropped to two degree Celsius
in Lucknow, Varanasi and Allahabad.
Ten people died in Meerut, seven in Bhallia, five in Mathura, Bhadohi four and two
in Ghazipur.
Normal life throughout the state was affected due to dense fog at several
places.
Meanwhile, the state government has issued fresh orders asking district officials to
give Rs 500 to each village head for bonfires.
