Cong names 3 observers for M'rashtra party meet
Tuesday, January 14 2003 15:42 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Vayalar Ravi along with two senior party leaders Pranab Mukherjee and Ghulam Nabi Azad were on January 14 deputed as party observers for the crucial meeting of the Congress Legislature party at Mumbai to be held on January 15, which is expected to discuss the leadership issue.

AICC general secretary Ambika Soni, while announcing the names of the observers to reporters, parried a question on whether they would meet independent Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), who were considered loyal to Deshmukh.

Asked if the party has decided to replace Vilasrao Deshmukh as the leader, Soni said the observers would meet party MLAs at Mumbai and try to ascertain their views.
