Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, who was involved in the Naga peace deal,
would be leaving Aizawl for New Delhi on January 15 where he would meet National
Socialist Council of Nagaland-Issac/Muivah (NSCN-IM) leaders Thiungaleng Muivah and
Issak Chisi Swu.
Zoramthanga said he was invited by the NSCN leaders, who are now in the capital, to
have a meeting before they leave Delhi in the last part of the month.
He said he would not be participating in the negotiations, as his main role was only
to create mutual trust and understanding between the Centre and the rebels for a
conducive atmosphere.
"The real talks would be held later," he predicted, adding the NSCN leadership would
have to formulate "Naga political demands" after consulting non-governmental
organisations (NGOs) and experts, which would take time.
A former rebel leader himself, Zoramthanga was involved in the Naga peace deal after
he was requested by both the Centre and the NSCN leadership to act as a "go-
between".
He had met the NSCN leaders in Bangkok three times before they finally came over to
India for talks.
