Curfew relaxed for 12 hours in riot-hit MP town

Vidisha: Curfew was relaxed for 12 hours on January 16 morning from 7.00 am (IST) in Ganjbasoda township of Vidisha district, where it was imposed on January 14 evening after violence, police sources said.

No untoward incident was reported from Ganjbasoda since January 14, when angry mob set fire to some shops and a few vehicles following recovery of a severed head of a cow from the house of a person of minority community, police said.

A total of 30 persons have been arrested till now for alleged involvement in January 14 violence and Chief Minister Digvijay Singh has said action against them would be taken under the National Security Act (NSA).

Meanwhile, a peace march would be taken out in the township on January 16 in a bid to instil a feeling of security among the people.
