Naga rebel leaders hold talks with Brajesh Mishra
Friday, January 17 2003 22:37 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Top leaders of major insurgent outfit National Socialist Council of Nagalim – Issac-Muivah (NSCN-IM) on January 17 met National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra as part of the ongoing negotiations to take the Naga peace process forward.

The meeting between Mishra and NSCN-IM chairman Issac Chisi Swu and general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah at South Block lasted one hour, official sources said.

Swu and Muivah, who were scheduled to leave India on January 20, have extended their stay by at least four days in view of the "positive progress" in the negotiations with the Centre to resolve the decades-old Naga issue.

Meanwhile, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, who has held three rounds of parleys with the two leaders abroad, is also understood to have held talks with the Naga leadership.
