New Delhi: Taking serious note of harassment of India's Charge d' Affaires in
Pakistan Sudhir Vyas, India on January 19 said this was in clear violation of
bilateral code of conduct and international norms.
"We have received reports of trailing and harassment of Vyas," External affairs
Ministry spokesperson Navtej Sarna said in New Delhi.
"This is part of a pattern of harassment of Indian diplomats followed by Pakistani
agencies," he said.
"This is in violation of bilateral code of conduct, international norms as well as
the Vienna Convention," he said.
Pakistani intelligence officials had on January 18 blocked the vehicle carrying Vyas,
who is currently holding the charge in the absence of India having any High
Commissioner, several times at a number of places in Islamabad while he was on his
way to attend official engagements.
Vyas travelling by his official vehicle, flying the Indian flag, on January 18 was
first stopped right at the gates of his residence when he was on his way to attend a
function at the Malaysian High Commission.
