Kolkata: President A P J Abdul Kalam will be arriving in Kolkata on January 20 for a
series of programmes in the metropolis and its suburbs on January 21.
The President, who arrives on January 20 night, is scheduled to start the next day
by inaugurating the annual general meeting of the Aeronautical Society of India at a
city hotel.
From there, he would go to the nearby Netaji Indoor Stadium to address 8,000
students in a function organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry.
Later, he will interact with another group of children of the Loreto Day School at
the Raj Bhavan.
Next in the President's schedule is the inauguration of the 6th World Jesuit Alumni
Congress at the St Xavier's College auditorium.
He will then address a 'select gathering' at the Netaji Bhavan and from there, he
will go to nearby Kalamandir auditorium to deliver the platinum jubilee address of
the Indian Chamber of Commerce.
Kalam will visit the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Mission's headquarters at Barrackpore
in North 24-Parganas district, before leaving for Delhi.
Police sources said besides the usual security detail followed during Presidential
visits, additional personnel would be deployed along the routes to be taken by
Kalam.
Traffic on various roads in Central and South Kolkata would be controlled and
diverted on January 21, they said.
