Ahmedabad: Seven pilgrims, including a woman, were killed and 20 others injured when
three ropeway trolleys collapsed midway to the Pavagadh mountain, famous for
Mahakali temple, in Panchmahals district of North Gujarat on January 19.
At least 25 pilgrims were still trapped in seven other trolleys dangling in the air,
K Nityanadam, state home secretary said.
However, he ruled out sabotage.
Nityanadam said emergency operations have begun to rescue the trapped pilgrims for
which help has been requisitioned from the Army and Air Force.
The situation was "totally under control", he said, adding that the cause of the
accident was being investigated.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Narendra Modi has rushed to the spot.
