Naga rebel leaders to hold talks with Central team

New Delhi: After "positive" talks with Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, leaders of major insurgent outfit Nationalist Social Council of Nagaland – Issac/ Muivah (NSCN-IM) will hold two days of official-level parleys from January 20 with top government officials to bring about a solution to the decades-old Naga problem.

NSCN (IM) chairman Issac Chisi Swu and general secretary T H Muivah would be meeting a Central team comprising special emissary K Padmanabhaiah, Intelligence Bureau director K P Singh and secretary (border management) in the Home Ministry R C A Jain to discuss various a of the Naga issue to find a permanent solution in the North East, informed sources said.

The NSCN (IM) leadership has already had discussions with Prime Minister Vajpayee, his deputy L K Advani, Defence Minister George Fernandes, Finance Minister Jaswant Singh and National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra.

They have also held inter-actions with former Prime Ministers V P Singh and I K Gujral and some other Opposition leaders.
