Jammu: Pakistani Rangers on January 20 resorted to heavy small arms firing to disrupt ongoing border fencing work and injured a Border Security Force (BSF) driver along international border in Jammu sector, according to official sources.

Pakistani Rangers fired indiscriminately on the labourers and officials involved in the border fencing work at Nikowal, Lortana Khurd, along the IB in R S Pura sub- sector of Jammu since January19 night, the sources said.

One BSF driver, who was helping the border fencing work, was hit and injured by a volley of bullet fired by Rangers from Pak posts, they said.

The injured BSF man was shifted to a hospital and is reported to be out of danger, the sources added.

The Rangers fired heavily for over five hours on January 19 night and intermittently till January 20 morning, the sources said.

The Rangers also fired on other border outposts and civilian areas in Samba, Ramgarh, Andhhiranagar belts of Jammu and Kathua districts, they said, adding low intensity shelling was also reported from Bhiwani and Naushera areas of Rajouri.
