Mumbai: A Swadeshi mela, with a theme "boundless Bharat", would be inaugurated by
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on January 28.
The week-long mela, in which only Swadeshi entrepreneurs are participating, is being
organised by Centre for Bharatiya Marketing Development (CBMD), a unit of Swadeshi
Jagran Foundation.
The mela would be held over sprawling 15 acres of Somaiya Trust Ground in North East
Mumbai, Murlidhar Rao and Ramesh Seth told reporters on behalf of the
organisers.
CBMD, with a brilliant track record of fostering the national entrepreneurs' self
confidence, had organised 39 Swadeshi melas in last four years with about 7,000
participants and over 220 lakh visitors, Rao said.
Nearly 600 stalls are expected to be put up at the venue and an estimated 10 lakh
visitors would be visiting the site, Rao added.
Various seminars titled "WTO and patents-impact on India", "Creating Made in India
Brand", " Emerging Opportunities in IT", "Converting Mumbai into a model city", and
"Future of Indian Banking" would be held during the mela period.
Union Ministers Murli Manohar Joshi, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Maj Gen B C Khanduri are
expected to attend the seminars, Rao stated.
I&B (Information and Broadcasting) Minister Sushma Swaraj and Samata Party leader
Jaya Jaitley would attend the "mahila sammelan" at the mela site on February 1.
