Islamabad: Pakistan on January 24 said it would not support or facilitate United States if it leads an offensive on Iraq.

Pakistan government is not in favour of US led war on Iraq, Information Minister Sheikh Rashid said in Lahore.

Appealing Washington and Baghdad to act responsibly, he said Pakistan needed to adopt a realistic and a balanced approach on Iraq, which should not hurt the sentiments of the nation or the Islamic world.

While Iraq must confirm its commitment under the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding on-going monitoring and verification, US must also act with responsibility in the interest of peace and stability of the region, he said.
