Guwahati: In the continuing sporadic violence by insurgents in the run up to the
Republic Day on January 26, militants exploded a bomb at Sorbhog bazaar in lower
Assam's Barpeta district on January 25 evening, injuring one person.
Official sources said a hand-made bomb exploded in a shop of the market around 6.00
pm (IST), injuring the shop owner.
The injured has been admitted to hospital.
The blast created panic among people as they fled in fear and the shops downing
their shutters.
Senior police officials have rushed to the site and investigations were on.
