Mumbai: The death toll in the building collapse in Fort area of South Mumbai has risen to four, with two more persons succumbing to injuries, police said on January 25.

Those who succumbed on January 24 night have been identified as Ramesh Krishna Bhosale (44) and Jaya Chandra (28), police sources said. Sabba Mansoor (15) and Vidya Jaiswal (32) were killed on the spot in the collapse.

At least five of the 17 injured were stated to be in a critical condition.

The staircase of the 80-year-old Palkhivala building, a heritage structure, which was under repairs, caved in on January 24 morning.

Fire-brigade officials ended the operations early on January 25 morning after residents confirmed that all the trapped persons had been removed.
