Srinagar: Pre-empting a terrorist strike on security forces on the Republic Day,
Army recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including 10 kg of RDX and two
improvised explosive devices (IEDs), from a militant hideout in border district of
Kupwara in North Kashmir on January 26 morning, official sources said.
Acting on a specific information, Army troops raided a hideout in Kupwara town and
recovered 10 kg of RDX along with two pistols, two pistol magazines with 15 rounds,
an under-barrel grenade-launcher with six grenades, five detonators, eight remote
control devices and two remote-controlled IEDs, they said.
The sources said the material was dumped in the hideout by militants apparently to
launch an attack on the security forces on January 26.
However, no one was arrested during the operation, they added.
