Islamabad: The heads of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC)
national radio and television organisations would hold their second meeting in
Islamabad on January 29 to discuss measures to project activities of the regional
grouping within the region and outside.
India would be represented at the meeting by Prasar Bharathi chief executive officer
(CEO) K S Sarma and director general of Doordarshan S Y Qureshi.
During their meeting, the media heads would explore ways and means to ensure
publicity and projection of SAARC activities within and outside the region, official
media reports said.
It will also take stock of the progress on establishment of a SAARC information
centre and co-operation with other international agencies in the field of audio-
visual exchange programmes.
Performance of the SAVE committee including productions on the thematic issues would
also come under consideration, the reports said.
The heads of national radio and television organisations would also present reports
about the existing state of radio and television in their respective countries.
The Islamabad meeting will also review the progress in the implementation of
decisions taken at the first meeting of the heads of national TV/radio organisations
of SAARC countries held in New Delhi in October 1999.
