New Delhi: India tonight (Jan 28) termed as "baseless" a Pakistani claim that its
forces shot down an Indian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over Pakistan-occupied
Kashmir.
"There is no truth in it. The report is baseless," a Defence Ministry spokesman
said.
The spokesman was reacting to a statement by Pakistan's military-run Inter-Services
public relations department in Islamabad that the downed aircraft was one of two
remote-controlled planes that violated Pakistani air space along the line of
control.
One of the planes flew up to six kms into "Pakistani territory", the statement said.
It claimed the incursions took place beginning late Sunday, but didn't say when the
plane was shot down. A Pakistani military spokesman said the downed plane was seen
falling in flames onto Indian territory.
