Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 395 Pakistani nationals are residing in Kerala of
whom 269 are overstayers, according to Chief Minister A K Antony.
The state government was not averse to examining whether it could do something to
regularise the stay of those who wanted to stay back if there was a political
consensus on the matter, Antony told the state Assembly during Question Hour on
January 28.
All these Pakistani citizens were of local origin, who went to Pakistan during
partition but later returned to Kerala. Many of them had been in the state for over
45 years.
They included those awaiting disposal of citizenship petitions, passport renewal or
court verdicts, he said.
