POTA court summons Raja Bhaiya, father on Feb 12

Kanpur: A Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) court has summoned the former Uttar Pradesh Sports Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, his father Udai Pratap Singh and a legislator on February 12 in connection with offences under the Act.

The summons were issued on January 27 by the presiding officer of POTA court Shailendra Saxena, who is also district judge of Kanpur city.

The Pratapgarh police had moved an application for summoning and arresting Raghuraj Pratap Singh, Udai Pratap Singh and Akshay Pratap Singh, Member of Legislative Council (MLC) under POTA.

The three accused are at present detained under Gangster Act and other Acts in different jails of the state. Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya at present is in Banda jail, while his father Udai Pratap Singh is in Pratapgarh jail. Akshay Pratap Singh, MLC, is in Mirzapur jail.

The state government had constituted POTA court of five divisions including Kanpur, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Chitrakoot and Jhansi in Kanpur.
