Jammu: Pakistani troops resorted to firing along the international border in Jammu- Kathua sector and rained mortar bombs along the line of control (LoC) in Poonch- Rajouri sector since January 27 night, official sources said.

A villager was injured in the Pakistani firing in R S Pura sector, they said adding the troops targeted fencing work along the international border and fired upon 23 border outposts and hamlets in R S Pura, Samba, Hiranagar and Ramgarh sub-sectors of Jammu-Kathua sector.

Along the LoC in Rajouri-Poonch, Pakistani troops shelled mortar bombs on defence installations and civilian area, they said.

Nearly 130-200 mortar bombs were fired in Bhawani, Noushera, Jangarh, Laam, Salotri, Digwar, Krishnagati, Balakote, Bhimber Gali and Kerni area, the sources said and added there was no loss of life or damage to the property.

Indian troops also retaliated and exchange of firing and shelling continued intermittently till January 28 afternoon, the sources said.
