Washington: To boost US efforts to curb the menace of terrorism, President George W
Bush has announced the setting up of a new centre to integrate intelligence on
terrorism collected at home and abroad.
"The Terrorist Threat Integration Centre", will assess intelligence gathered by the
Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), US Justice Department, Pentagon and Department of
Homeland Security, Bush said on January 29.
The new centre will be placed directly under the supervision of director of Central
Intelligence Agency George Tenet, reinforcing Tenet's role as Bush's senior
intelligence adviser.
It will provide "seamless" analysis of information to the President and other senior
policymakers.
The new centre is aimed at helping to eliminate remaining barriers between the
nation's intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA and Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI), over sharing and analysing intelligence.
