New Delhi: Aspiring athletes will have an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact
and take tips from the legendary Edwin Moses when he pays a two-day visit next week.
The first ever visit to the country by the former 400m hurdles champion is expected
to be lapped up by both youngsters and those who belonged to his era, Sanjay Lal,
CEO of Percept D' Mark, organisers, said.
Besides interacting with budding athletes, Moses will also launch here the inaugural
project of Laureus Sport for Good Foundation in India. "The project is being kept a
secret... The project will be launched here but will be physically carried out in
Mumbai," Lal said.
Moses will also introduce the 20 founder members of the Hero Indian Sports Academy
to be run on the lines of its international counterpart. Moses reigned supreme in
the 400m hurdles for nearly a decade beginning with the gold in the 1976 Montreal
Olympics.
His timing of 47.02 seconds set in early 1980's remained a world record as late as
1992. Moses, also a physicist, has devised and administered the
world's most stringent random and out-of-competition testing systems for performance
enhancing drugs.
