Washington: In an apparent bid to make amends with American Indians incensed over an
article ridiculing Gandhi published by it, lifestyle magazine 'Maxim' has said it
will "respond" to the angry reactions in its May issue.
"We will be responding to the article in the May issue," a spokesman for the monthly
said on January 29 adding that an earlier response was not possible due to
production schedules.
'Maxim' did not use the word "apology" but said it is seeking "a positive and happy
resolution for all". The wording of the response is being discussed, he said.
Organisations, which had criticised the article and asked for a formal apology, said
they would wait for the magazine's response before letting the matter rest.
"We will keep our fingers crossed until then," Michelle Naef, administrator of the M
K Gandhi Institute in Memphis said. Other organisations want 'Maxim' to donate funds
towards tolerance education.
