Friday, January 31 2003 09:55 Hrs (IST)

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on January 31 held wide ranging discussions with Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on various issues, including global scourge of terrorism and security issues.

Advani, who had a breakfast meeting with Shinawatra, is understood to have briefed the Thai premier on cross-border terrorism being faced by India from Pakistan.

As a part of its 'Look East' policy, bilateral economic relations also came up for discussion in context of India's meeting with Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) to be held in October this year.

This is Advani's first visit to Thailand after being elevated to the post of Deputy Prime Minister.

He is also scheduled to meet his Thai counterpart Wissanu Krea-Ngam, Justice Minister Purachai Piumsombun and Interior Minister Wan Mohammad Noor Matha.
