Jammu: Pakistani troops resorted to heavy firing along the international border (IB) to disrupt the ongoing border fencing work in R S Pura and Arnia sectors of Jammu division, Border Security Force (BSF) sources said.

Pakistani rangers, using light and medium machine guns, targeted areas near border outposts of Nikowal, H S Way, Khurd, Karotna in R S Pura sector and its adjoining Arnia sector since February 2 evening, they said, adding there was no loss of life or damage on Indian side.

Troops from across the international border have been resorting to firing, usually from dusk to dawn, to disrupt the fencing work being undertaken to check infiltration.

The BSF, which has undertaken fencing work along 187.5-km long international border from Paharpur to Akhnoor in Jammu division, will be completing 87-km of fencing by June end this year, the sources said.
