Moscow: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf arrived in Moscow on February 4 on a
three-day visit at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
The two leaders are expected to sign bilateral agreements dealing with economic and
Defence cooperation. Indo-Pak relations and the issue of Kashmir are also expected to
top the agenda of their meeting.
The main talks are to be held at the Kremlin on February 5 in which ways to combat
terrorism, situation in South Asia, Iraq, North Korea would be discussed.
On the bilateral front, leaders of the two countries are to focus on boosting
bilateral trade and explore the possibility of Russian private investments in steel,
oil and gas projects, Russian foreign ministry officials said.
Musharraf is scheduled to go on Kremlin sightseeing tour and visit world famous
Bolshoi Theatre on the first day of his visit.
According to local media, Musharraf is also expected to discuss purchase of Russian
arms and a communication satellite.
Musharraf would be leaving for home on February 6 after addressing a news
conference.
"Musharraf has been invited to Moscow within the framework of President Putin's
foreign policy of having various level of working partnership with all the countries
of the world. However, this will not be done at the cost of our traditional partner
and friend India," a senior foreign ministry official said on condition of anonymity.
