New Delhi: A designated court on February 5 sentenced sitting Member of Parliament
(MLA) of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari to 10 years imprisonment, after
he was convicted under Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA)
and also imposed a fine of Rs five lakh on him.
Special judge S N Dhingra also sentenced Ansari under the Arms Act to three years
imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on him on default of which he will have
to undergo imprisonment for one more year.
Both sentences would run concurrently.
