Hyderabad: As Ayodhya peace issue gains momentum with Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra
Saraswati's fresh initiative, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) on February 5 urged
the Centre to remove 'all legal hurdles' in handing over the 'undisputed land' at
Ayodhya to Ram Janambhoomi Nyas to facilitate construction of temple.
"As far as the disputed land is concerned, we are of the view that that all concerned
should abide by court verdict or a mutually agreeable solution," BJP president M
Venkaiah Naidu told reporters in Hyderabad.
Stating that Ayodhya was a 'pressing national matter and not an issue concerning a
single party', he said that his party 'wholeheartedly welcomes the sincere efforts'
by Kanchi seer to bring about a dialogue between communities.
"This dialogue needs to be carried forward. I move one step forward in appealing to
the government to explore all possibilities of removing legal hurdles in handing over
undisputed land for construction of temple," Naidu said.
Side-stepping a question on VHP's (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) hardening stand on the
issue in view of its approaching deadline, he, however, said the people were 'getting
restive' as it was a 'strong desire of the millions' to see Ram temple constructed at
Ayodhya.
"VHP may have their own views... I am optimistic about a positive outcome," he said.
