Lucknow: Jailed independent MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya on February 5
alleged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has given a contract to a mafia don to
eliminate him.
"Mayawati has hatched a conspiracy to kill me and police has been directed to protect
the mafia don," Singh told reporters.
He said the contract has been given to the same mafia don who, he claimed, killed
Rajendra Yadav, the key witness in the POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) case
against him, and denied he was involved in the murder.
"I am in no way involved in the murder of Yadav. If any one can prove this (his
involvement) I will quit politics," the legislator, who was brought here from Banda
jail to appear in a court case, said and demanded that a CBI probe be ordered into
the killing.
The legislator alleged that Mayawati had unleashed a reign of terror on his
supporters and "false" cases were lodged against them and him. He said the Centre
should intervene to ensure that innocents are not punished.
"Despite these pressure tactics, the agitation against the government which has
crossed all limits of decency, would continue," Singh said.
