Jammu: Pakistani troops continued to resort to mortar shelling on civilian areas and
forward Defence locations along the line of control (LoC) since February 4 night
killing a woman in Poonch sector, official sources said on February 5.
For the third consecutive day, Pakistani troops using field guns fired 61, 80 and 81
mm mortar bombs from Bakri and Hajipeer range posts along the LoC in Poonch targeting
villages including Khadi Karmara, Jallas, Digwar, Salotri, Nachow, Sabzian, Balnoi,
Krishnagati, Kerni and Mendhar, they said.
A woman identified as Fazala Bi was injured in shelling in Nachow village in Poonch.
She succumbed in a hospital this morning, the sources said.
Around 06:30 hours this morning, Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling forcing
people to take shelter in their houses, the sources said, adding the shelling was
still on.
People are terrorised following the shelling, they said.
Six people were injured and a house damaged in Pak shelling on February 4 in Poonch
sector.
Exchange of small arms firing and shelling were reported from Laam, Bhawani, Noushera
and Sunderbani areas of Rajouri, Pallanwala, Kanachak, R S Pura, Ramgarh, Samba and
Hiranagar areas of Jammu-Kathua sector and central Siachen, Mushkoh
Valley and Turtuk areas of Kargil sector since last night, the sources said.
There was no loss of life or injury on this side, they added.
