New Delhi: Former Union minister B Janardhana Poojary was on February 6 appointed
the new president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) succeeding Allum
Veerbhadrappa who had expressed his desire to relinquish the post six months back.
AICC (All India Congress Committee) general secretary incharge of the state Vayalar
Ravi said in a release that party chief Sonia Gandhi had approved Poojary's
appointment, ending a month-long suspense for the post.
Poojari, an OBC (other backward caste), had been president of the state unit as also
general secretary of AICC during the tenure of Prime Minister P V Narasimha
Rao.
