Jalandhar: In the midst of a defamation war between Himachal Chief Minister P K
Dhumal and his Punjab counterpart Amarinder Singh, Punjab State Electricity Board
(PSEB) officials on February 7 raided four premises belonging to Dhumal and his
relatives in Jalandhar.
The raids were conducted following reports of alleged power theft, official sources
said.
The sources said the premises raided included Dhumal's residence in central town
locality of Jalandhar.
The other three places were business premises belonging to Dhumal's family members in
Pathankot chowk locality on G T road, they said.
As soon as the news about raids by Enforcement Wing of the PSEB spread, BJP
(Bharatiya Janata Party) workers, including former minister Manoranjan Kalia, reached
Dhumal's residence.
Terming the raids as politically motivated, Dhumal's associates alleged these were
conducted at Amarinder's behest.
Dhumal on February 6 had filed criminal complaints against Amarinder Singh and two
other senior Congress leaders saying they had levelled false allegations against
him.
The Punjab Chief Minister on February 7 said he would be filing a counter defamation
suit in Jalandhar in a day or two to expose Dhumal's claim that he was clean.
