Balasore: Ninetyfour persons, mostly school children, were hospitalised when they
fell sick after partaking in a feast organised in their school at Mathacharmara in
Balasore district of Orissa on the occasion of 'Saraswati pooja' on February 6.
Most of the affected, including teachers and other school employees, began to vomit
soon after taking the food in the feast and they were initially rushed to the public
health centre (PHC) at Singla, official sources said.
After preliminary treatment at the PHC, most of them recovered. They were treated by
two doctors rushed there from the block headquarter town of Basta, 20 kms away.
Two of the seriously ill persons were later shifted to the government hospital at
Basta for treatment.
All the affected persons, however, were out of danger, the sources said.
