New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, five activists of Pakistan-based militant outfit
Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen, including its financial controller, were arrested in Srinagar
on February 7.
Home Ministry sources said the arrested included Ahmed Khan (financial controller),
Abdul Rather, Mushtaq Ali Mir and Ghulam Mohammed Dar. They were nabbed from Dalgate
in Srinagar city.
The sources said that the identity of the fifth was yet to be
ascertained.
The arrests came after the interrogation of chief of the outfit, Gulzar Ahmed Bhat,
who was arrested in Srinagar on January 29.
Police also recovered a radio communication set and several weapons and ammunition
from those arrested.
Bhat had taken over JuM after the death of Khalid Dar, the sources said.
