New Delhi: India does not propose to shut down the Pakistan High Commission in New
Delhi, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said on February 8 night.
"There is no such thing," he told reporters when asked if New Delhi was considering
any such proposal in the wake of expulsion of Pakistan's Charge d' Affaires Jalil
Abbas Gilani and four staffers in the High Commission.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had demanded that the High Commission be closed
immediately in the wake of the mission being reportedly found to have been funding
separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Advani said a Chief Ministers' Conference on Internal Security was informed that
India had declared the five as persona non-grata.
