New Delhi: India on February 8 reacted sharply to Pakistan's tit-for-tat action of
expelling its Charge d'Affaires Sudhir Vyas and four others, saying it indicated
Islamabad's "compulsive hostility" towards New Delhi.
"It is extremely unfortunate that Pakistan has chosen to act in this way. This is a
pure and simple act of retaliation and another indication of Pakistan's compulsive
hostility towards India," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said when
asked about Islamabad's move.
"It is unfortunate that this is the only way that they can act instead of
acknowledging the clearly unacceptable behaviour of their own CDA (Jalil Abbas
Gilani) acting in broad breach of all diplomatic norms", he said.
The Pakistani action came hours after India asked its Charge d' Affaires Jalil Abbas
Gilani and four staffers to leave the country within 48 hours.
