New Delhi: A historic tripartite agreement was signed on February 10 between the Centre, Assam government and the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) paving the way for creation of a Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).

The agreement, which was signed in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Ministers of State for Home I D Swami and Harin Pathak, also proposes that the existing Bodoland Autonomous Council will be abolished as soon as an autonomous self-governing body of BTC is created.
