Chennai: Drawing a simile to the nail-biting finish to the cricket match on February
10 in which West Indies, after a disastrous start, ultimately triumphed, Dravida
Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M Karunanidhi indicated that his party would stage
a comeback in the next Assembly polls.
"Defeat should be taken as a stepping stone to success," he said referring to the
February 9 opening World Cup cricket match in which West Indies ultimately won,
despite a disastrous start.
Karunanidhi said the West Indies had scored only 10 runs in nine Overs after losing
two wickets. "Batsmen like Brian Lara did not give in that easily but proved his
mettle with a sterling performance with his willow."
