Kolkata: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on February 10 criticised the Vajpayee
government's decision to approach the Supreme Court for transfer of the undisputed
land in Ayodhya and demanded that status quo be maintained till the final verdict was
pronounced.
"Status quo should be maintained in Ayodhya till the court announces its final
order," Gandhi said at a party-sponsored rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in
Kolkata.
"So long as the court verdict is pending, we will have to keep patience and wait,"
she said, disapproving the Centre's decision to move the apex court to vacate stay on
religious
activity on the undisputed land in Ayodhya.
