Jammu: Police have arrested militant Altaf Hussain Shah, who had escaped from police custody in Surankote area of Poonch district on February 11, police sources said in Jammu on February 13.

In a search operation last night (February 12), police raided a militant hideout in Gunthal forest area in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district and arrested the militant, the sources said.

Shah, one of the accused in the massacre of 30 migrant Hindu labourers in Qasim nagar locality of Jammu city last year, was brought to Poonch district where he was lodged in jail under tight security.

A member of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit, Shah had given a slip to the security personnel during morning prayer in Surankote police station lockup on February 11, the sources said.
