Chandigarh: Eleven labourers were killed in Patiala city after consuming hooch, a
senior police official said on February 13.
Nine of the victims died at their houses on February 12 night in Dhiro Ka Majri area
of the city while two died in Rajindra Hospital at Patiala on February 13 morning,
district police chief Paramraj Singh said.
The labourers were in their thirties and forties, Singh said, adding they had
purchased spirit from a dealer in Anardana Chowk area and after consuming it they
complained of diarrohea.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, he said.
Singh said police was on the look-out for the shopkeeper from whom the victims had
allegedly purchased the spirit even as the premises has been sealed.
