Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala would oppose plans to link rivers originating from the
Western Ghats as part of the Centre's ambitious river inter-linking project, state
Irrigation Minister T M Jacob told the Assembly on February 13.
The state had asked the Centre to call a Chief Ministers' meet before drawing up
the "river-garlanding project", Jacob said during Question Hour.
As far as Kerala was concerned, inter-linking of Western Ghats rivers sounded
unscientific. The state would oppose the proposal to inter-connect Pampa, Achankovil
and Vypar rivers, he said.
