Thrissur: Five persons died after consuming toddy taken from a homestead at Peruvambu in Palakkad district late February 12 night, police said.

Seven others were admitted to Thrissur medical college hospital in serious condition.

The victims felt exhaustion and nauseated after drinking the brew, suspected to be laced with pesticide, police said.

While one of them died on the way to Palakkad district hospital, four lost their lives at the medical college hospital, police said.
