Hubli (Karnataka): Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on February 14 asserted that
no nation could ignore India or put pressure on it and the country would protect its
interests.

"We are capable of facing any pressure", Vajpayee said in his speech at a public
meeting after laying the foundation stone for South Western Railway Zonal
Headquarters office in Hubli.
Without Naming Pakistan, Vajpayee also said, "Our one neighbour keeps on creating
problems" but they were themselves trapped in problems.
"We want to have friendly relations. Neither we nor they will go anywhere. We have to
live together. But this is not acceptable to it," he said.
The neighbouring country keeps on raising the Kashmir issue at the international fora
but the world had started realising that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had
themselves voluntarily decided to join India and that this could not be changed,
Vajpayee said.
Referring to the polls in Jammu and Kashmir, he said, "Who had thought there could be
elections in Jammu and Kashmir. People said there cannot be elections in Jammu and
Kashmir."
