BSF foils yet another Bangla infiltration bid
Sunday, February 16 2003 12:38 Hrs (IST)

Karimpur (West Bengal): About 200-250 Bangladeshi nationals again tried to cross over into Indian territory by crossing the narrow Mathabhanga river which divides India and Bangladesh in West Bengal's Nadia district on February 15 evening, police said.

The Border Security Force (BSF) immediately prevented the group who were being prodded by the Bangladeshi Rifles (BDR) to cross over, the sources said.

The Bangladeshis were still encamped at Nimtala Ghat on the Bangladesh side of the river, they said. The BDR turned abusive when the BSF stopped the migrants from coming over to the Indian soil.

Senior BSF officials have rushed to the spot.
