Bangalore: Congress in Karnataka would soon frame an action plan to galvanise the
party at all levels and gear it up for the Assembly polls, Karnataka Pradesh
Congress Committee (KPCC) president B Janardhana Poojary said on February 16.
Talking to reporters, Poojary said he has directed the state unit office-bearers and
elected representatives including MPs and MLAs to span out to nook and corners,
identify the problems and submit the action plan.
The action plan would be subjected to debate prior to seeking the party high
command's approval before being put into action, he said.
Poojary who assumed office as the state unit president on February 15, however,
ruled out change in the present set of office-bearers, saying there was no such plan
as of now.
He reiterated that his foremost task was to inform people the achievements of the
government led by Chief Minister S M Krishna and its efficient handling of the
Cauvery issue and the abduction crisis involving Janata Dal – United (JD-U) leader H
Nagappa.
Hitherto, efforts to popularise the achievements of the Krishna government have not
been done on a required scale and the campaign would be stepped now, Poojary
said.
When asked about the demand by a section of the partymen for removal of inefficient
and corrupt ministers, Poojary said it was the prerogative of the Chief Minister and
the party would not interfere in the day-to-day administration.
Krishna will not only complete the present five-year term, but also head the
government for another 15 years, he said in reply to a question.
