Joshi appeals for a smoother Budget session

New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi on February 17 sought the co-operation of all political parties to ensure smooth functioning of the House during the Budget session.

At the luncheon meeting, the leaders of political parties and groups in Lok Sabha discussed a wide range of issues which are expected to figure during the session.

The government was represented by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State Vijay Goel, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief whip in Lok Sabha, V K Malhotra, the Congress representatives were Shivraj Patil and Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi and Samajwadi Party was represented by Akhilesh Singh. The others were Somnath Chatterjee (Communist Party of India - Marxist), Chandrakant Khaire (Shiv Sena) and Yerran Naidu (Telugu Desam Party).
