Srinagar: A security officer was killed on the spot and a jawan injured in a mine
blast, suspected to have been caused by militants, in Anantnag district of South
Kashmir on February 17, official sources said.
The blast took place at 8.00 am (IST) hours, when their vehicle ran over an
improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants at Dooni Puwa, 45 kms from
Srinagar, sources said.
Sub inspector of Indo Tibetan Border Police Sri Chand was killed instantaneously
while the jawan was injured, they said.
Although no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the blast, police
suspected the hand of Hizbul Mujahideen.
