New Delhi: Strongly denying his involvement in an alleged sex scandal in Gujarat,
Arfinder Singh Lovely, a Congress MLA from Delhi, on February 17 said he had filed a
defamation case of Rs one crore and a criminal case against the Gujarat Home Minister
for levelling such "baseless" allegations and demanded a CBI inquiry into the
matter.
"The charges levelled against me by Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah are totally
baseless, false and motivated with a political conspiracy to defame Congress on the
eve of elections," Lovely told reporters in New Delhi.
"It is undoubtedly a high-level political conspiracy against the Congress. The
Gujarat Home Minister is acting under the direction of BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party)
Central leadership and mascot of communalism Narender Modi," he alleged.
Admitting that he had visited Gujarat along with Delhi MLAs and Municipal Councillors
during the Assembly elections there, Lovely, however, said he had never met Punjab
ministers and MLAs with whom his name has been clubbed in the alleged scandal.
